AAA House Show (01/08/2000)

(Location: Taxco, Mexico.)

Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
Los Nuevos Power Rangers (Super Nova II and Venum II) and Fugaz beat
Mercurio, Geo and Nygma 2 falls to 1:
x Nygma beat Fugaz via the Flying Splash in 0:09:44
x Fugaz beat Nygma via a crucifix in 0:11:17
x Nova II beat Nygma via a rana in 0:19:34
Rating: 1/2*

Average match.  Fugaz was the only one on the tecnico team...
Actually, the only one in the match who felt like taking a dive or two
to the outside.  Everyone else just seemed to want to wrestle.  Odd.
In any event, after Nygma took the first fall, the tecnicos ganged up
on him, and took the second fall fairly easily.  Mercurio put up a
good fight in the third fall, but eventually, after a mix-up, Nova
pinned Nygma with a rana for the win.

Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
Rayos Tapatios I y II and Ricky Marvin beat America, Picudo and Binary
2 falls to 1:
x Binary beat Tapatio I via the Y2K Crash in 0:12:33
x Tapatio I beat Binary via countout in 0:15:45
x R. Marvin beat Picudo via a Northern Lights suplex in 0:20:26
Rating: *

OK, Marvin looked good.  So did America.  They had a quick 3 minute
sequence during this one, and the crowd ate it up.  That eventually
led to Marvin hitting a Northern Lights suplex on Picudo to score the
win for the tecnicos, and Marvin's first pinfall victory in AAA.
Picudo shook Marvin's hand after the match, which was a nice gesture
by the rudo.  As for the first two falls, they were junk.  Binary was
counted out after Rayo I rammed him into the ringsteps.

Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
El Texano, Moto Cross and Shocker beat Matt Hardy, Heavy Metal and Rey
Dragon 2 falls to 0:
x M. Cross beat H. Metal via a power bomb in 0:12:45
x Shocker beat R. Dragon via a Frankensteiner in 0:25:24
Rating: **** 1/4

WHOA!  TERRIFIC MATCH!  People would *kill* for a tape of this one,
but I don't know if it'll be *that* easy to find.  The rudos took this
one in a clean sweep, but the tecnicos were just crazy, with Metal
busting open...  Hell, maybe even cracking open Shocker's head (*had*
to be a .5, *maybe* a .6 Muta - but who knows?), while Hardy and
Dragon must have drank their Tang before the match, because they were
diving onto Texano and Moto Cross like it was something they did every
day.  However, the rudos, who did a fine job by themselves, managed to
take home the win.  Standing ovation for both teams after the match.

Felino pinned Shiiba with the Splash Mountain in 0:15:29.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Felino retained the Mexican National Middleweight Title.)

Another very good match, but compared to the last one...  Um...
Anyways, Shiiba looked pretty nervous in there for some reason, as he
was pretty cautious, and rarely took to the air.  Finally, Shiiba went
for his Frog Splash, but Felino lifted his knee!  After a flurry of
offense, Felino hit his Splash Mountain to retain the title.  Shiiba
didn't seem to be in a good mood as he went to the back.

Rey Misterio Jr. and Perro Aguayo defeated Jerry Estrada and Sangre
Chicana when Perro Sr. pinned Chicana with the Double Stomp in
0:14:33.
Rating: -3/4*

This could have gone either one of three ways - Misterio and Estrada
are in the ring most of the time, and we have a good match; everyone's
in the ring for the same amount of time, for an average match; or
Perro and Chicana are in the ring most of the time, which gives us a
pretty bad match.  Luckily, we got option #2.  About as good as could
be expected, but with Estrada and Misterio brawling on the outside, we
were treated to Perro hitting Chicana with the Double Stomp for the
tecnico win.  Good way to end the night.
